Merlin Mann over at 43 Folders has just posted some exciting news. The GTD inspired organization program OmniFocus is going to be location aware on the new iPhone platform. What does this mean? Well say you have a list of groceries/things to buy. OmniFocus uses the location aware chip / new GPS chip to tell you where the nearest grocery store is.
This seems like a really cool feature. Say you’re out on a run to do something else, and you check your iPhone. It tells you, “Hey, there is a Target nearby, so you can pick up that lamp you’ve been wanting.” That’s pretty cool, and is sure to save me time down the road. They haven’t released to many details, but I’m hoping you can save favorite locations, like my favorite grocery stores, IKEA, etc. That way it’ll know when to yell at you for forgetting get something when you’re in the area.
They also just announced that the iPhone version will also be push-sychable, meaning that whenever I make a change on my iPhone, it changes on my computer, and anywhere else I keep the data. Pretty sweet. Here are some screen shots:

I was one of the beta-testers for OmniFocus, and it was waaaay buggy back then. I just bought it again, and am really happy with the latest version. I’m trying to prepare all facets of my life for my impending iPhone. Updating my address book has been the biggest task lately. I’m sure I’ll do a big “These Are My Favorite iPhone Apps” when it actually comes out.
